Lean and process optimisation

Lean increases an organisation’s speed, flexibility and quality. The aim is to eliminate waste and optimise processes to create the greatest possible value for the client. If the process is handled well, a good Lean strategy goes hand-in-hand with increased employee satisfaction.

Ramboll Management Consulting carries out projects that focus on increased employee involvement, division of responsibilities, appreciative (and visible) management as well as creating the basis for ongoing improvements.

Whiteboard

Project Types

Ramboll Management Consulting assists both public and private organisations in implementing Lean within the areas of service, administration, production, etc. We carry out pilot projects to demonstrate the applications of Lean, and organise Lean roll-outs in entire organisations as well. The time frame for the projects may vary from short demonstration projects to long-term processes involving employee training, advising an organisation’s Lean managers, process optimisation and maintenance of new work methods.

In addition, we gladly give presentations at management seminars and workshops to clarify the applications and challenges of Lean in administration, service and production.

Methods

The client is in focus in Lean management. This also applies to our projects which are always tailored to meet individual client needs. We work with effective Lean tools such as value stream analysis, A3 reports and Kaizen events. The application of these tools is adapted to client requests and expectations to effects, internal training, weighting of cultural changes and demands for pace of these changes.

Effects

We find that most organisations can achieve significant gains by implementing Lean. In our experience, we find that Lean management projects have often been able to cut case-handling time in half, only two months after project start. Another example is a 33% reduction of the hours spent on a type of assignment within the first week after project start-up.

Regardless of whether we work with Lean management in administration, service or production, Lean contributes to:

  • Increased focus on the client
  • Shorter production lead times and often reduction by half in case-handling time
  • More effective utilisation of resources and improved efficiency
  • Less stress and increased job satisfaction
  • Improved and more efficient IT systems
