IT in Practice
IT in Practice 2011 – Strategy, trends and experience contains business-oriented studies of IT in private companies, making IT in Practice one of the most significant surveys of its kind. | |
For the 16th consecutive year, Ramboll Management Consulting in cooperation with the Danish IT Society (DANSK IT) presents a status report on the benefits and challenges of applying information technology in private companies in Denmark. Developments in IT as well as generally have been considerable. This year we are publishing IT in Practice in English for the first time, in response to the natural internationalisation of Danish companies. We would like the report's analyses to be used more widely in businesses to support the increasing number of global employees and the value chains of the companies.
IT in Practice maps the actual development and innovation of digital businesses and describes future trends in the use of IT. Based on best practices in business and current solutions and methods, the report is a valuable tool for qualifying present and future IT-strategic decisions. Specific examples from the report can be used to put IT on top management’s agenda and create an understanding within the organisation about the meaning and scope of IT. IT in Practice can help to facilitate the ongoing debate about IT in businesses and society as a whole.

This year's edition of the report shows rising optimism as reflected by an increasing number of companies with a strategic focus on growth. At the same time CEOs consider IT as increasingly crucial for businesses. CIOs must take advantage of this momentum to ensure that managerial awareness reflects the real corporate priorities.
The report presents an overall maturity model for governance and IT management. Each company can use the model for a reality check of the company's maturity in selected areas in relation to business strategy – or to benchmark and assess each company against best practice groups or others in the industry.
IT in Practice 2011 – Strategy, trends and experience contains business-oriented studies of IT in private companies, making IT in Practice one of the most significant surveys of its kind.
The survey was conducted from March to May 2011 among CIOs/IT managers and CEOs. With its broad perspective, the IT in Practice survey achieves a unique legitimacy in the Danish market in business as well as IT fields. IT in Practice also represents a solid foundation for putting into perspective a company's maturity and analysing the management and use of IT within the 500 largest companies.
